Our family has farmed this property continuously for over 100 years growing peaches, prunes, walnuts, vegetables and grapes. The oldest vines, the Mission varietal, date back over 100 years followed by head-trained, dry farmed Zinfandel that was planted in 1960 and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1978. Since then the vineyards have been expanded and now include eleven varietals including Arneis, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Malbec, Mission, Petite Sirah, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Syrah and, of course, Zinfandel. Located in the heart of the Shenadoah Valley with rolling hills and deep soils, we have a perfect location for growing premium wine grapes and our numerous varietals allow us to manage our wine-making from vineyard to bottle, producing high quality, hand-crafted estate wines.
Di Stasio Vineyards is designated as a California historic vineyard. As a designated historic vineyard we are recognized for the unique characterstics that these vineyards possess. To qualify, the vineyards must've been planted over 5o years ago and still in production. We have Zinfandel planted in 1960 and Mission vines planted in 1908. We also have 42 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and all are producing fruit and used in our estate wines.
South Block - Mahoney and Aprioct Hill Vineyards
These Cabernet and Zinfandel vineyards were some of the earliest planted on the property and dry farmed until the late 1970's. The Mahoney Vineyard is a Cabernet Vineyard named for Francis Mahoney, founder of the Carneros Creek Wine who purchased this fruit for many years. Apricot Hill, a Zinfandel Vineyard planted in 1960, is named for the three apricot trees planted at the top of the hill at the entrance to the vineyard.
North Block Vineyards - Italian Varietals
These vineyards, planted in the last decade, include six varietals including Barbera, Primitivo, Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc. Planted on rolling hills with abundant sun and air flow, these vineyards produce excellent fruit that only promises to improve with age.
In the near future we plan to add new southern Italian varieties like Negroamaro, Aglianico and Nero'd'Avola. We're anxious to introduce an Amador version of these wonderful wines as staright varietals or classic blends.
